A Time of Change. Downsizing! Chignik Bay Lodge will be even more exclusive in 2016. It is time to announce that Chignik Bay Lodge will be downsizing in 2016. Our wonderful guide and friend, Travis Wendt, is changing course in life and will not be joining us for 2016, and Jim is retiring from Alaska. They have been excellent guides and ran many fantastic and successful trips in Chignik, making many guest’s Alaskan dreams come true. They are great fisherman and guys, and we will miss them. After much discussion, Mary and John have decided to continue with the fishing and adventure business. We continue to love our time in Chignik and sharing the beautiful country, remote wilderness and great fishing with our guests. We will run fewer trips and entertain smaller groups and Mary and I will resume our “Mom and Pop” business as we originally started, bring in…

We have had an outstanding couple of weeks since our last post! Kings have been absolute dynamite in the river. We continue to see 20+ hook ups a day with new fish continuing to enter the river even this late in the season. We have enjoyed the company of people from all over the country these past weeks. Our group hosted by Toby Wyatt of Reel Time Fishing came from around the Pacific Northwest and were all seasoned Alaskan travelers and said that the Chignik area was by far the most beautiful and most pristine fishing areas they have ever been. Last week we had a large group composed primarily of guys from the south east – most of these guys had never experienced Alaska and were completely blown away with the King and Halibut fishing.
